Harry had phoned his wife to meet him at the mountain lodge and when she got there she found him with a pistol pointed at her. Harry Benson murders his wife but he plans the murder so cleverly that when he was brought to trial he is acquitted. And the law states that when a man has been cleared once even if there is fresh evidence he cannot be tried again. Blackie agrees to do what he can to help Mrs. Bensons daughter either prove that her mother killed herself or to make Harry Benson suffer.
