Singing hostess Dorothy Lamour opens the show, welcoming Henry Russell and his Orchestra, and her distinguished guests for the evening, two of Hollywood's funniest men, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, and one of its finer actors, tough guy Dick Powell. Dorothy then performs the first song of the show, It's A Most Unusual Day, before Abbott and Costello do one of their famous routines, and then later there's a swell sketch with Dick Powell.
