Ed Barrett from Tri State Insurance Company in New York has received word that his friend Tommy Hargreaves has had a car accident and been killed. There was a $70,000 double indemnity life insurance policy to benefit his wife Mary who he didn’t get on with. Ed was sure there was nothing suspicious about it but had to employ Johnny Dollar to investigate the accident as a matter of course.
