The Golden Lizard Yacht lies sleepily at anchor in the moonlit Mexican waters facing the casino in the luxurious Hotel Cavalier, the last yacht of an impoverished millionaire, the only home of an aged food-loving man and his strangely beautiful young wife. What bothers George Valentine more is that he can’t fathom why two young men who’d supposedly come because of the boat had died accidentally like the South American engineer Enrico who fell in to a swimming pool and drowned or suicidally like the young Danish woodworker Paul whom he last saw being admired like the young senora.
