It’s Saturday morning and that means a late breakfast in the Gildersleeve household. The great man has consumed a hearty meal topped off by three waffles. He daintily pats his lips with his napkin loosens his belt a notch and leans contentedly back in his chair. He is having the morning off as he has to get ready for afternoon tea with Adeline this afternoon. Leroy receives an invitation to a party in the post from a girl at school but Leroy is not interested in going to any girls’ party. Gildy thinks it is time he learnt a few social graces.
