Brenda Stirling was recently murdered, and her boyfriend Howard Gilbert has been convicted of the murder and sentenced to hang. Brenda's father feels sure he didn't do it, in spite of all the evidence against Gilbert, and so asks Paul to clear his name and discover the real murderer. As the story opens today, Paul calls Steve on the telephone with a strange request. He wants her to dress in a 'long frock', take a taxi, and meet him in Sloane Square, where he will fill her in on the latest developments of the case...
