It was nearly midnight when Sergeant Preston shouted a command to King. The great dog turned to the right and led the team up the creek bank and up to the little town of Gold Flats. King was working as a loose lead, breaking trails through the freshly fallen snow, when suddenly he swerved aside and headed straight for a warehouse on the left of the street.
