Singing hostess Dorothy Lamour opens the show, welcoming Henry Russell and his Orchestra, and her distinguished guests for the evening, one of Hollywood's most versatile and talented young men, Gene Kelly, and one of radio's most versatile and talented young men, Dennis Day. Dorothy then performs the first song of the show, Wipe Those Tears From Your Eyes.
