Andrew Macefield was out on bail awaiting trial for swindling and goes to the house of his friend Jerome Carlson and offers him quarter of a million to keep his mouth shut and so prevent him from spending years in jail. Carlson won’t agree, as he believes the law should be upheld so Macefield kills him at 10:00pm. Macefield pays Marguerite $10,000 to give him an alibi.
