Harry was a natural entertainer and born to be in show business yet his mother Mabel discouraged him as she and his father had been in show business for 20 yeas and she knew it was a fickle uncertain business. Harry worked in a warehouse but for the last couple of months had been working nights as an emcee which he loved. He also had his girl Alice to think about and Mabel was worried that if the show business work ran out and there was no other income Alice and he would run in to problems.
