Britt was riding his horse Scar, through 50 yard canyon near Smoke Falls. As he rode out into a wider part of the canyon, Scar slowed to a walk and suddenly somebody started to take shots at him. It turned out to be his old friend Art Hemper. Art told Brit that his step brother Clyde was dead and the sheriff was after him as the main suspect. Art convinced Brit that he hadn't killed him for his inheritance and that he'd always loved him as a real brother and asks Brit if he will explain this to the sheriff.
