Baron Frankenstein had taken refuge on the ship voyager that was ice bound in the North Pole. The Baron was weak and ill and the captain and his officers did their best to restore him to health. Gradually he told his story and he explained to the captain of the attempts he had made to make a man, events leading up to its escape and the murder of Julio.
