Much has been written concerning the flowering of New England. By this of course is meant the intellectual, spiritual and literary heritage of that section of our country, which is justly hailed as the cradle of our culture. But New England was also the birthplace of our factories and forges. Indeed at one time, she was the gunsmith to our nation. Back in 1851 in his Hertford armoury, a gunsmith named Samuel Colt, started to manufacture a very popular revolver. It came in caliber .36 for the Navy, and caliber .44 for the Army, and one of these has survived to become the centerpiece of our story...
