It's a crisp October night, and inside the old family mansion, a log blazes in the fireplace of the drawing room. Three men are watching the flickering patterns made by the flames. The eyes of one of the occupants wanders slowly around the room, taking in the panelling, the fine old beams, the reflective light from the fire.
