Matt is out of Dodge to deliver a prisoner to Hayes city when a mad professor arrives and tells Chester he’ll probably be dead by the time the Marshall arrives back. His name is Professor Albert Cranston and he works in metallurgical research. He tells Chester that the syndicate has put a price on his head by which he means the silver syndicate of wealthy mine owners in California. They have hired 8 killers to track him down and the one that catches up with him gets $10,000.
