While Larry Noble is waiting in the New York City jail for his trial, Rupert Barlow is making desperate efforts to create a rift between Larry and Mary, so that Mary will at last turn to him and respond to his romantic inclinations. From all appearances, Rupert has been successful, at least in creating trouble between the Nobles. Right now we find Mary at the hotel in which she is staying, talking to Rupert in the lobby.
