Whilst investigating certain mysterious occurrences at Redmold, Inspector Nayland Smith discovers evidence of the presence of Dr Fu Manchu. An attempt to kidnap the Reverend Dr Elson is frustrated by the quick actions of the Inspector. As Elson, Smith and Petrie return to the house from a hurried search of the fortified ground, they are startled by a frenzied cry for help.
