A rifle shot came within inches of Pat Ryan as he stood with the mountain hermit Nimeru in the moonlight. Somebody fired the shot from across the snow valley, somebody who is anxious to prevent Pat from investigating the snow tracks, which might have been those of the lost Scientist, Dr Moy Ben.
