The Lone Ranger and Tonto reined up and dismounted, then they ran toward a canyon before they dropped at the very edge so that they wouldn't be silhouetted in the moonlight. Far below the gunfight was still in progress - five or six men against one - who looked to be the Sheriff! As they got near to him the Sheriff was hit, and went down with a groan. He was lying face down, unconscious when they got to him. Tonto skillfully dressed the wound and the Sheriff came around. He recognized the Lone Ranger and Tonto from their reputation, and was mighty pleased to see the two of them...
