Today's guest is Ira Hirschmann, the author of a new controversial best seller, titled The Embers Still Burn. During the war, Ira served on the national war labor board, and later on the war refugee board. In 1946 he was sent to study conditions in the camps for displaced persons, and in The Embers Still Burn, he recollects his memories of this mission in Germany, where he spent several weeks at the camps and official headquarters. The living conditions in these camps, designed to 'rescue the victims of Nazis' shocked him, but what shocked him more was the attitude of the officials...
