What would you say was the essential invisible power that rules all humans? Could love overcome hunger for 10 days? Mr Lattimer is willing to undergo a centuries old test that Mr Slake wants to put him through but he does not want to put his fiancée Catherine Vane through it. However Catherine agrees as the $20,000 reward will secure their future. But will they love each enough to go a week without food and then not touch a piece of bread put before them and not to be touched for one half hour?
