Johnny has his fishing pole, rod, reels and tackle box all ready to set off fishing when Earl Foreman from Sarasota calls. Earl suggests he trade them in for some Levis, boots, saddle and a couple of six guns. Earl explains that Florida is the leading cattle state in the deep south and the freezing weather they had some while back has hit some of the ranchers pretty hard. Ordinarily it's unnecessary to lay up a lot of hay and feed for the winter, but this year, because of the freeze, the cattle are so weakened by malnutrition at least a couple of hundred of thousand have died and the ranchers have hit the insurance company with a claim in excess of $78,000 for loss of the entire herd. So, Johnny is off to Sarasota to investigate.
