The saving of Bud Conley's life depends on Captain Midnight's ability to remove three tall trees which stand in the way of the take-off. The only way is to blast them away with the aid of dynamite furnished by a prospector, Ben Gillan. As our scene opens today, the first two trees have been blasted down, but the third one, a gigantic tree, remains. The last charge of dynamite has exploded, and yet the proud old tree remains perfectly erect - as straight as a flagpole...
