Sam and Dick had been friends since Sam got his license. 5 years ago Dick had testified against Claude Spicer who had set up a jewelry robbery with Dick's old partner. Now Spicer was out of jail and wanted to get his own back on Dick. He wants Sam to follow Spicer, who is staying at the Belvedere and to hopefully put an end to whatever it is he has planned for Dick.
