The story begins during the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Augustus Warwick, a calculating and ambitious politician, had considered his marriage to Diana Warwick as largely one of convenience, but all of fashionable London is shocked and amazed when Diana suddenly leaves her husband's house. After her unhappy marriage ends, we follow the beautiful and charming Diana as she is followed by a trail of suitors.
