The Cavalcade Orchestra sets the stage for the first story with an overture composed especially for the occasion. It makes use of some of the original musical themes, which our conductor Harold Levy has composed for the Cavalcade of America.

Where primitive man feared the power of nature civilized man utilises that same power to his advantage through engineering. Throughout history nature has been harnessed to improve our conditions and the following two stories pay tribute to the American engineers in the years 1810 and 1920.
