It is 9:30 am November 18th 1941 in the big bend country of West Texas. J.C. Wilford of the bureau of mines and Fred Blazon are winding up a narrow road towards Blazon’s abandoned mine in Black Hawk Canyon. Blazon is considering opening the mine again for oil if the Wilford recommends it. When they get there they discover a different padlock on the door and inside a skeleton with a bashed in skull which suggests murder.
