This time, the story is about a young girl who lives in a section of an industrial city, where the tenements sit in squalid rows, side by side, with only a few feet between. Her name is Hope Grey and she's been an invalid ever since a hit and run driver struck her down. She lies in her bed in a dingy room, and her one window stares into the window of another tenement, almost directly opposite. That window, and the girl who lives behind it, have become friends of hers...
