Stories begin in many different ways for Randy Stone who covers the night beat for the Chicago Star. Sometimes stories of the night have their beginnings on the dayside. This one did. It was less than a dozen hastily written words on a piece of paper when Randy first saw it, his city editor, Farley’s words all black and white in the light of day. It took the night to add the color and shadings to give the perspective and make them come alive…
