Graham Harper is a sculptor who had recently tried to commit suicide. Then he received an anonymous note, which read, “A man who prefers death to failure deserves success. It is a gift, which is mine to bestow. If you wish further details meet me in the vicinity of pier 12 Wednesday around midnight.”
