Terry comes back to America after a two year hiatus to find that his fiancée has married someone else. Then he is placed in an institution, "for your own good, Terry." Terry has his doubts, doubts that begin to seem less neurotic when patients in the sanitarium begin to be found murdered in their beds. Each time a murder is committed, there can be heard weird music in a minor key and the sound of a cripple walking up a flight of stairs, but there are no stairs...
