Well our Miss Brooks who teaches English at Madison High School has often heard the old expression “Money is the root of all evil” and if it’s true she should be wearing a halo! As she happened to mention her financial predicament to her landlady Mrs Davies, Mrs Davies suggested that she try to get a job with Deacon Jones whose square dance troupe were playing at the town hall this week. He was advertising for school teachers to go along on his tour to look after the children over the summer and the salary he offered was $500 a month. It was very tempting…
