This is a factual story of the men and women whose vigilance guards our lives. It is a reconstruction of a clinical case history step by step with the doctors who were there. During conflict between the Algerians and the French a young woman is hit by some shrapnel, which becomes lodge near her heart. Her life is saved by two French doctors, one who seeing the mindless killing almost forgets his Hippocratic oath to preserve life.
