Dan Parker had been shot dead by his stepdaughter who mistook him for a burglar. Lou Anne Parker had had a close relationship with her stepfather since her mother had died, and was pretty broken up when she realized what she had done. When an insurance company holds a policy as large as the one they had on Dan Parker they want to know the full circumstances surrounding the death and so it was a job for Johnny Dollar.
