Jim Brandon has received some thoughts transmitted through obscure writing in which he thought violence was indicated because his waves of telepathy were picking up strong impressions of robbery and perhaps even death along with the indecipherable writing. The writing he suspected could have been hieroglyphics and prompting him to mention professor Wilks as he had been in the news recently in connection with a museum piece he had brought over from Egypt called the Crypt of Thoth. The professor had been trying to translate the hieroglyphics on the piece and Jim thought he might have been connected to his thoughts.
