Will his doing shopping when Temple starts to Mock him about his manhood. They start to argue and things inevitably end up getting heated. Temple tells Will that he will eventually get his way and make Will sell his farm and the accompanying land to him. Why doesn't Will stand up for himself? He's not usually one for holding back, but something has changed and Will seems to want to avoid violence even to the point of never wearing a gun. Justice needs to be done and there's only one man who can bring things to a satisfactory conclusion.
