When Mary goes round to John Richards house to break off their relationship, Richards won't accept their break up for Boston Blackie. When Mary insists that her and Blackie are just friends Richards suggests there's still room for him. Mary pulls a gun, Blackie's gun which Blackie said she may need and indeed she did unfortunately for Richards and possibly Blackie.
