Simon Templar is trying to hail a cab when ex-con Oggi Cocklethwaite pulls up and insist he gets in for the ride. The car is stolen and Oggi makes Templar get into the driving seat. When he pulls a gun it turns out that Oggi is being paid to kill The Saint. There is a contract on him by a guy named Ronald Stanton.
