Today's story opens at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey, where the army set up the first camp college. In one of the barracks we find Corporal Pete Johnson sitting on his bunk as his friend Simon Kramer comes in. They're discussing whether the new college is going to be a success or not - with the general consensus being that they can't imagine any GI's wanting to learn about Shakespeare, Freud, Calculus and the like...
