Whilst holidaying in a small village at the side of the River Thames Dr. Watson and his wife meet up with an old friend, Helen Warburton, niece of the old colonel. She tells Watson how she is worried that her uncle is going mad. Naturally Watson brings his old friend Sherlock Holmes into the case. The Colonel feels he is the victim of Voodoo Black Magic which has followed him from his days as Military Governor in a Zulu District.
