Although he claimed he was innocent Robert Saunders was convicted of the murder of Amanda Poste and sentenced to death by hanging. Sherlock Holmes too believed that Bob Saunders was innocent, as it did not make sense that any sane man would steal the sum of £8 out of a cashbox that contained £65 and kill his former employer to conceal a minor crime.
