Claim Of Death

Prospector Davy Fletcher, white-haired and weather-beaten, used short, frantic strokes as he chopped at the wall of a cave. Convinced of their find of a strong vein of gold, his partner, Otto Johnson, wiped the cold perspiration from his florid face, and tried not to show the excitement that had shown in his mild, blue eyes. The two men had struck it rich! Finally, after all of those years working together! Outside the cave, more than an hour later, Otto prepared to leave for town, whilst Davy squinted at the sun and frowned. He knew that Otto would need to move fast if he were to make it into town and file a claim before sundown. The Lone Ranger and Tonto later spotted the old man and his injured donkey struggling along the trail, who they both knew well.
