Andrew Manson is a young and idealistic doctor who graduates from medical school and takes a job as an assistant to an aging doctor in a poor mining community in Wales. Soon disillusioned by the harsh realities of working in a system that prioritizes profit over patient care, he witnesses firsthand the suffering of the miners and their families, who are often denied proper medical treatment due to their poverty. Dr. Manson becomes determined to make a difference and sets out to improve the lives of his patients.
