The Chop Suey Murder Case began with the robbery and murder of a China Town merchant. In an effort to trap the man responsible Vance planned a scheme that backfired and a large diamond belonging to a prominent Chinese was stolen. Vance and Markham thought they had the criminals in Johnny Malloy and his girlfriend but they had no diamond when they captured them.
