At the close of the civil war when the railroad pushed its way across Kansas great trail herds were driven from Texas along to Chisholm Trail to Dodge City and Avaleine. Drivers faced many dangers, outlaws, hostile Indians and the forces of nature but they could always be certain of a friend in need. The lone Ranger knew that the future of Texas depended on the safety of that trail and with all his strength and courage, his daring and resourcefulness he fought to preserve it.
