Today's guest is Gerald Winfield, the author of a book called China, The Land and The People. For thirteen years, from 1932 to 1945, Dr Winfield lived and worked with the Chinese people. He not only learned their language fluently, but also the depth and range of their problems in farming, industry, and above all in public health. Dr Winfield is joined today by critics Anna Lee Jacoby, a veteran reporter of China affairs; and Harold Lord Varney, a former adviser to the Chinese government.
