Alan Ladd plays his original role of Ed Adams a reporter for the Chronicle who tries to find out the truth about Roseate Jean-Dur a young girl who was found dead in a crummy hotel room. The only clue she had left behind was an address book, which seemed to be full of the private numbers of gangsters.
