There were two young men who came to the Yukon during the first summer of the gold rush. One was Charles Edward Talbot from Beating Hill in Boston, and the other was named Edward Lee Jordan whose home was in New Orleans. They met for the first time in the 303, that wild cafe that Soapy Smith ran in Skagway. Eddie Jordan was sitting at a table with Slick Chalmers, and Talbot was standing at the bar only a few feet away, listening to Slick try to sell Eddie a claim...
