Waldo tells Nick Carter that someone had tried to poison him as the eggs he had for breakfast had chemicals in them. When the eggs were checked it appeared that they had the explosives nitro-glycerine in them, which had been transferred in to them by the chickens that laid the eggs. Nick Carter and Patsy investigate.
