Night Wound Canyon was so named because of its formation, a long, deep gash in the earth's surface, the canyon made it necessary for both horse men and stagecoaches to spend an extra day in crossing the state. One of the greatest engineering projects of the age was the bridge under construction across the gap. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding through the night along the canyon's rim, where far ahead they could see the flickering light of a campfire on this side, and the workmen's camp on the other side.
